Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

For the Filling

• 3 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed
• 1 cup heavy cream (or whole milk)
• 1/2 cup sour cream (optional, for tang)
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
• Fresh chives or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. 1. In a large pot, bring potatoes and salted water to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain well.
2. 2. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or use a ricer for extra smooth potatoes.
3. 3. In a small saucepan, heat the butter and cream over low heat until warm.
4. 4. Gradually add the butter mixture to the mashed potatoes, stirring until creamy.
5. 5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If using, fold in sour cream for extra creaminess.
6. 6. Garnish with chopped chives or parsley before serving.
