There’s nothing more romantic than a molten, gooey chocolate cake. Chocolate lava cake is the ultimate indulgence, perfect for sharing and guaranteed to impress your partner with its decadent, molten centre.

Ingredients

• - 1/2 cup unsalted butter
• - 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
• - 1 cup powdered sugar
• - 2 large eggs
• - 2 egg yolks
• - 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
• - 1/4 teaspoon*vanilla extract
• - A pinch of salt
• - Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (optional)

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease two 6-ounce ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder.
2. 2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt butter and chocolate together in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
3. 3. Stir in powdered sugar, followed by the eggs and egg yolks. Add vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, and then fold in flour until combined.
4. 4. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, leaving room for the molten center.
5. 5. Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm and the center is soft.
6. 6. Let cool for 1-2 minutes, then carefully invert the ramekins onto serving plates. Serve immediately with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
