I have spent many hours hunched over, filling buckets with wild blueberries. My Mother is from Bell Island and no late-summer visit would be complete without a lazy afternoon spent foraging. We were always expected to pick enough to make this dessert and also fill a freezer bag.Blueberry Dumplings are a classic Newfoundland dessert, perfect for showcasing the wild blueberries that grow in abundance on “The Rock”. Soft, pillowy dumplings are cooked in a sweet blueberry sauce, making for a perfect dessert after a hearty Newfoundland meal.

This dessert is delicious on its own, but who would say no to a scoop of vanilla ice cream?
